Emmanuel, God with us!

Emmanuel, God with us!

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” – a quote from Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities”, maybe an apt description of the past year?  At Towers of Hope we daily encounter those who have fallen prey to the ‘worst of times’. The numbers at our daily soup kitchen are steadily climbing, with 246 being our highest count one afternoon. In our food parcel program the situation is even more dismal as too often we run out of non-perishable food items.

But 2024 was also ‘the best of times’ as God’s provision is always on time. It never lacks when it really matters. He is the One reaching out, comforting, caring and providing for those who have fallen in dire straits. We are only his hands and his feet.  Our Lord was, is and will be our Emmanuel. He is God with us.

This Christmas Day it will be the 17th uninterrupted year in which marginalized and vulnerable people will be blessed with a special Christmas meal and practical gifts (i.e. toiletries). You are earnestly invited to partner with us and share in our Lord’s reaching out to those who this Christmas especially need to know that God is still with us! He is our Emmanuel!

You can do this in any of the following ways:

  • Availing yourself the week before Christmas with assisting in the packing of gift parcels or the preparation of the Christmas meal
  • Assisting on Christmas Day by getting everything ready beforehand, or by pre-packing the meals and handing it out together with the gift parcels
  • Partnering with us by contributing either in natura or through funding for what is needed for the day (See the attachment, Christmas meal ingredients).

You can contact us on 051-430-4274 (office hours) or andre@towersofhope.org.

Whatever way you decide to be involved, know that all and any contributions are appreciated tremendously.  We thank you beforehand. Have a blessed Christmas!
